Scorpion Thunderbolt Of The 21st Century Plan B are NOT a performance art group. They do perform and they do 'do' art but they are NOT Performers and NOT Artists. Which makes them something else. Clear?
STOT21stCplanB, as they are happy to be called, move in mysterious ways. They were founded sometime ago in a place called Fish Island, which is somewhere forgettable yet familiar. If only I could remember...
They originally recorded under the name of STOT 21st C before they changed their direction and are currently progressing Plan B, hence the name change. They have issued several musical recordings which are available free, except where they sell them (and are contained in their artwork).
STOT 21st C (STOT21stCplanB) have worked with Sexton Ming on 'Enclave of Love' and have recorded several cover versions of god's malicious acts (tsunami, bird flu etc.) in a style which respects Slim Whitman. One reviewer accused them of deliberately trying to make the worst record in rock n roll history.
They rarely perform live and when they do you may know about it because you'll be invited, if you don't know you won't have been invited, but you can turn up anyway.
STOT21stCplanB do not have a record contract and do not want one, but sell one record through Rim Records.
Their original artwork was all originally handcrafted art in basic materials but they have now moved into the printed world and stampage world except when they make original handcrafted art.
They exhibit their artwork at least annually at The Aquarium Gallery alongside Jamie Reid and James Cauty and have previously outsold James Cauty on stamp prints. Sometimes they exhibit at other times, I think.
STOT21stCplanB deliberately create a contradictory world, but have said 'we never do this except where it has happened before we knew about it and then only where it was planned to be a spontaneous act or it wasn't us, unless someone else says it was in which case it was nothing to do with us'.
All this contradiction is greatly reassuring in a disturbingly unsettling way.
